I wanted to make the backlinks buffer always appear in a narrow-ish window on the right. I wanted to be able to open an Eshell buffer on the left side of the window whenever, and I also wanted to be able to make a dedicated tab that I could toggle between easily. It asks Emacs to open the buffer in one direction rather than another, and it’s just as if you had done C-x 2 or C-x 3 for up/down or left/right respectively. There’s a lot more, but those features have intrigued me enough that I wanted to make it easy to pop open to Eshell whenever I could. You can also Link Builder-Meister these pages together, which begins to make Notion look strangely like a simple website builder. This might not seem like a big deal, but it means people who would find your content useful and relevant might never find it. Some websites have no problems gaining text links naturally, the websites content is natural linkbait, but many small businesses struggle to compete for Google SERPs due to a lack of high quality free backlinks.
However, there are common pitfalls that many website owners fall into, leading to penalties from Google and a plummet in rankings. Which it is. However, it’s also secretly one of the best tools for building no-code websites. If you’ve put a bunch of effort into configuring Emacs in those ways, it’s really nice to port that across. Fortunately, the indomitable Mickey Petersen has written up a fantastic article about how Emacs manages windows which you should definitely check out. I had a ton of log messages getting dumped out to the screen, and on my terminal, the lines always wrap. I kept receiving messages from folks who desperately wanted to get in on the gardening action, but described themselves as "non-technical." I want to acknowledge calling anyone non-technical is controversial, since it suggests some people are inherently unable to code or wade through complex digital tools. All of the early gardeners were web developers to some degree - we all knew our way around a Github repo, could paste commands into the terminal, and hack things together enough to get an experimental website up and backlink workshop running. You can choose which data points are shown, change the way that the "next" task is selected, and more.
Before you commit to a strict backlink plan, you can examine the points we listed below that you need to be aware of in terms of quality. Read full post: How Many Backlinks Does Your Website Need to Rank? The moment you hit publish on a piece of content, you need to start promoting it. If you publish a piece today, it’s not going to generate 10 backlinks on its own by tomorrow. Now, a lot of people immediately think about disavowing those links, Link-Promotion-Workshop assuming it’s the quickest fix. You can then style that text, create multi-column layouts, add images, embed links, and build spreadsheets in the middle of a document. With BuzzSumo, you can find high-quality articles that you can use to build links and attract more people. This allows you to build up deeply interlinked content - one of the hallmarks of a digital garden. I think it's important to maintain good content on a community like this, but it's good to be careful how you maintain it.
Using platforms like Instagram or Pinterest can significantly increase your website's visibility. There are so many processes and variables going on behind the scenes that it’s difficult to give a definitive timeline for when you can expect to see results from backlinks. This should give you the 80/20 on how Notion works. Notion claims it’s a note-taking app for teams - a shared space for documentation and planning. That can be the case that maybe we just index 1/10 of a website because it’s a really large website. On top of getting long lines to play nice, I can also use the powerful search and filtering operations that I’m used to using to navigate my code to navigate through my terminal history. Over the last year, a number of tools have popped up that make it much easier to plant a digital garden without touching code. There’s so much to it that I can’t write it up in a blog post.
